Artist's Comments

In some places on Planet Apis, where she spends half her time, she is referred to as "Za Zaazzmakt", which, for the human tongue roughly translates as ' Proud Powerful Queen".
In other places she is "K'vazz B'saav", or "She who defends us".
On Planet Earth, she's known as "Väktare" in one part of the world, and "SugarShock" in another.

To her parents, she is simply Lovisa Q Sanders:
loving daughter, and citizen of 2 worlds.

Daddy was a stalwart superhero, and at a young age, like most other "Daddy's little girls", he was HER hero.
She didn't have his speed, and she didn't have her mother's wings, but, there was something about the mix of human and apinoid DNA that made Lovisa special.
She could hypercharge her metabolism and create electricity.
Oh, just a few sparks at first, but over time, her abilities grew.
She was schooled at a special secret academy in Sweden that was for the children of diplomats, dignitaries and People of Interest. Though he wasn't a government operative, over time, Sebastian Sanders made a few friends in Sweden's"Special Communities" and with a few strings pulled by Viggen, Lovisa was allowed to attend the academy.

Though she could retract her antennae at will and had no wings, Lovisa was marked as not-quite-human by her exotic silver and blue eyes.

She grew up a normal, happy girl with love and support from her superhero father and alien entrepreneur mother, Bootsi Q Sanders.

her life changed during the final battle between her father and his twisted counterpart, "Vice".

There was a high speed battle in the middle of the Oresund bridge, which Vice was attempting to destroy as some odd political statement against Denmark. He and Virtus rumbled harder than they ever had to date.
Unfortunately, Sebastian was returning with his wife and daughter from a holiday in Denmark. Their car was still on the bridge, which was possibly going to collapse. Bootsi was knocked unconscious by a tremor, and Lovisa attempted to extricate her from the half-crushed vehicle and drag her to safety. Seeing this, Virtus, badly beaten at that point but still fighting hard against his evil doppelganger, screamed out to his family. Seeing a weakness, Vice sneered that if he couldn't defeat Virtus, he'd hurt him through his family.
Vice shot across the bridge toward Bootsi and Lovisa. Virtus gave chase, but was two steps behind. Lovisa saw them coming. Despite their speed, everything seemed to be moving slowly in her silvery eyes.
Vice grabbed her, and as a defense mechanism, Lovisa's hidden electrical powers surged out from her in a torrent of fear and adrenaline. Vice was electricuted with enough power to fry an elephant.
The villain was down and barely clinging to life. Lovisa was scared out of her mind, and Virtus didn't know what to make of any of it, he was just glad his family was safe.

Vice lived... barely, but fell into a coma from which he hasn't awakened to this day.
Virtus took it upon himself to teach his daughter to use her abilities responsibly.
Her electrical powerset was new to him, but he was happy to spend more time with his daughter.
He never really wanted her to go into the 'family business' of being a superhero. He'd rather she learn the intergalactic shipping trade from her mother, but Lovisa was determined to be part of this fascinating world of odd outfits and superpowers. Being a very VERY bright girl, she did, however, decide on a college major - biogenetics wiith a minor in anthroxenology, to better understand how metahuman powers manifest and work.
Realizing that he couldn't stop her once her mind was set (she's stubborn like her mom), Sebastian reluctantly gave his blessing to her chosen path, and, of course, teamed up with her on several occasions to keep an eye on her.

she was Apis's very first costumed superhero, and a powerful force to be reckoned with here on Earth in the three countries she spends her time in:
Canada, Sweden and Denmark.

Eventually, Lovisa will grow out of her fixation with superheroes, and become one of the world's foremost authorities on anthroxenology, but for now, "Sugarshock", (as Xeno, of the Dust Devils sarcastically nicknamed her during their battle in Ontario, Canada) is happy following in her dad's fleet footsteps and righting wrongs on 2 planets.

Not bad for a half-alien 17 year old prodigy.

==============================================
Sugarshock is able to generate an intense surge of bioelectricity, but is unable to cast it without a conductor. She is also able to absorb electricity from outside sources to power her attacks..
She focuses her electrical abilities through the conductive metals that her costume is contains, but as of this writing, has to arc it to/through another conductor.
She also has an "Electromagnetic Pulse Touch" that disrupts electrical devices and computerized systems.
During the right weather conditions, SugarShock can manipulate lightning from the sky.
She doesn't have her dad's speed, but she has Temporal Perception; a form of ESP focused through her eyes. In effect, she can make time slow down for a very short period and move through it with a complete 360 degree grasp of her surroundings.
Like any apinoid, she can create the biological wax-honey that is a staple material in everyday apinoid life, but, she only uses this ability as a last resort, as, for some reason her 'beeswax' has a horrible taste and texture, though seems to be more potent than the average.
She is not as strong as an average Apinoid, due to being born and partly raised on Earth, though SugarShock is stronger than the average human
(Level 1 enhanced strength - she can lift just under a ton with a strain.)

Director's Commentary -
This is my half of an art trade with :iconspeedslide:
He asked for a character who would be the child of his character, Virtus, and my character, Bootsi.

I think he may have had more 'Normal Rockwell' in mind, and I went all 'Stan Lee'.
Please forgive me.
This was my 4th stab at this concept, and the first 3 didn't turn out well. I left it for a bit and got frustrated, then, this came out of the blue, so I ran with it. Sometimes, lack of sleep is my friend.
Now, I NEED sleep.

Thanks man.
I try to do a lot of writing as well as drawing.
I'd rather have an overdetailed character than
an underdeveloped one.
Sometimes I'm a bit OCD about that.

This is so darn good that I can't quite find the words! So I'll just make one up! Hmm... I'll call it... Terrifi-gantic! ^^

I especially enjoy how you mixed the genetic characteristics from V and Q's visual appearances, which shows the most in her exotic eyes. Bootsi's eyes, but V's baby blues. While you went wild with the costume design. ^^

The costume is brilliant. The only thing that looks a little out of place is the Diana Prince-esque tiara, but I'll survive. XD There's a definite mix of elements, but just enough from both characters to make it look completely new. ^__^

The only thing I have to truly complain about is that Seb's last name is Sanders, not Sandberg. But I understand the confusion with this self-insertion character.

And then there's the lovely backstory, courtesy of a truly genious writer by the name of Johann Gans. May he one day be able to fully stretch his wings into comicdom. ;) Muah! Exquisite! ^^

And that does it! With your blessing, I'll launch the Next Generation Jam this weekend, with your deviation as a shining example. ;)
